Introducing SCPro Parking Management: Revolutionizing Parking Management with Smart Technology

The SCPro Parking Management solution was born out of a need to address complex, real-world parking management problems that existing systems couldn’t adequately resolve. While there were solutions available, they often came with hefty price tags and were tied to specific camera or barrier brands, thus limiting their accessibility and scope. In addition, they were closed systems, not allowing for integration with other solutions, which further limited their applicability.
To fill this gap, we designed SCPro Parking Management to be versatile and inclusive, supporting several license plate recognition (LPR) camera brands and open to further integrations. This allows clients to use not only LPR cameras but also LPR software solutions that can be linked to our system. With established integrations like Milesight cameras and DTK, NumberOk, and iSpy software, SCPro Parking Management offers the flexibility for users to select the most suitable LPR solution based on their individual needs.
One of the key advantages of SCPro Parking Management is its versatility in deployment options. It can run on a variety of hardware configurations. For instance, it can operate within a virtual machine in a traditional PC environment or it can also run natively on a Raspberry Pi. This flexibility allows for seamless integration into existing IT infrastructures and makes SCPro a highly adaptable solution for a wide range of deployment scenarios.
SCPro Parking Management: Introducing the ‘Real Direction’ Feature
The introduction of our unique ‘real direction’ feature marked a significant breakthrough in SCPro Parking Management. By using this feature, we can intelligently calculate the direction of vehicles based on the sequence of events. This allows for accurate differentiation between entries and exits, effectively handling complex traffic patterns that were previously challenging
While current LPR solutions do attempt to calculate the direction, their methodology relies on counting pixels: if the pixel count increases, the vehicle is assumed to be moving in one direction, and if it decreases the opposite. However, this approach has its shortcomings as it can lead to incorrect results under certain circumstances.
In contrast, SCPro tackles such edge cases efficiently thanks to our ‘real direction’ feature, which calculates direction based on real physical events. Instead of merely counting pixels, SCPro uses actual event sequences to determine the direction of a vehicle. This way, SCPro would not register an event at all unless the car crossed a designated point.
The Genius Behind Real Direction in Parking Management
Thanks to the ‘real direction’ functionality, SCPro can offer a more accurate measure of available parking spots, even in open-space parking lots. This is a significant advantage over systems that depend on overhead sensors, often found wanting in open environments.
By understanding the direction and sequencing of vehicles, SCPro can efficiently manage parking slots designated for specific groups. Imagine a scenario where Group A is allocated three parking spots. Although five cars are registered under Group A, the ‘real direction’ feature ensures that if all three spots are occupied, subsequent cars from the group are denied access. This precision prevents any potential spot theft from other designated groups. Once a space is freed by a Group A vehicle’s exit, another car from the same group can be accommodated.
To further improve the system’s accuracy, we’ve recently incorporated physical lines based on laser detection technology into SCPro. This upgrade was primarily driven by the unique challenges posed by truck parkings. Trucks often carry different license plates on their front and back for the trailer, or even on the fender. This, combined with their long size, can complicate the detection and management of entry/exit events, stay duration, and due amounts using standard LPR approaches.
In a typical truck parking setup with a single barrier, a truck may trigger multiple detections on the LPR system due to its length and multiple license plates. This could potentially lead to erroneous entries or exits being registered while the truck is merely maneuvering under the still-open barrier.
To counter these issues, we’ve adopted a combined approach using two cameras and two laser detectors positioned strategically near the barrier. An entry event is triggered when a truck crosses Camera 1 followed by Laser Detector 1 (L1), and an exit event when the vehicle crosses Camera 2 and then Laser Detector 2 (L2). The L1 is located behind the barrier but before Camera 2, and the same configuration is mirrored for Camera 2.

SCPro is also currently being developed to integrate with paystations and LED displays. This additional feature will provide a fully automated parking experience for customers. They can validate their license plate, review their parking dues, and pay at the paystation. The LED display offers real-time updates to customers about their parking status and any remaining dues, further enhancing the customer experience.
By combining laser detection with our unique real-direction feature and our future plans for paystation and LED display integration, SCPro Parking Management is paving the way for a revolutionary, accurate, and user-friendly parking management solution. Our commitment to continuous improvement and openness to integration, coupled with our versatile approach, has made SCPro a strong contender in the field of parking management and LPR access control solutions.
